สวัสดีครับ ^^

วันนี้มาแนะนำ app ตัวช่วยติดตั้ง Mac OS X 10.5 ชื่อรหัส "Leopard" กับ PowerMac's ที่มีสัญญานนาฬิกาตํ่ากว่า 867MHz ซึ่งมีเงื่อนไขนิดเดี๋ยว คือต้องเป็น เครื่องตระกูล "G4" ครับ

เจ้าตัวที่กล่าวถึงนี้มีชื่อว่า LeopardAssist จากค่าย "iCode"t ซึ่ง LeopardAssist นี้เพียงเข้าเปลี่ยน NVRAM Script แก้ไขให้ Mac OS X 10.5 ยอมติดตั้งให้เท่านั้น ซึ่งไม่จำเป็นที่จะต้องเปลี่ยน หรือ ติดตั้ง CPU Upgrades, ไม่ต้องทำ DVD hacking เพียงแค่ Ran LeopardAssist เท่านั้นเองครับ

ก่อนติดตั้งก็อย่าลืมอ่านคู่มือดีๆ นะครับ ทำความเข้าใจเสียก่อน เพราะตัวนี้ผมเองยังไม่ได้ลองทดสอบด้วยตัวเอง

ซึ่งก่อนหน้านี้ผมใช้วิธีแก้ไขที่ตัว "OSInstall.mpkg" ซึ่งทำการ Restore DVD 10.5 ลงบน External HDD แล้วติดตั้งกับเครื่อง PowerMac G4 533MHz และ PowerMac G4 733MHz โดยผลทดสอบการทำงานก็ไม่มีปัญหาอะไรที่ทำให้เกิดผลเสีย เพียงแต่ผลที่ได้อาจจะไม่สมบูรณ์ในแง่ของการประมวลผลต่างๆ นั้นก็คือเครื่องอืดๆ ช้าไปนิดครับ เมื่อเที่ยบกับ Spec ที่ทาง Apple กำหนดมานั้นเอง ซึ่งหากสนใจตัวนี้ สามารถ Download ได้ที่นี้ครับ [ http://groups.google.com/group/thaimacclub/files ]

• ขั้นตอนการ Restore Mac OS X 10.5 ได้ผลบน Mac OS X 10.4 เท่านั้นครับ

1. Mount the Original Leopard DMG
2. Open Disc Utility (under Applications -> Utilities)
3. Click on New Image
4. Name the image as Leopard and save on desktop
5. Put the type as sparse image
6. Put the size as DL-DVD (8Gb), and click create

7. Mount Leopard.sparse
8. In disc utility, select the Leopard image and click the restore tab
9. Drag the mounted Mac OS X Install DVD to the Restore from field
10. Drag the mounted Leopard to the Restore to field (or equivalent)
11. Click Restore and wait..

12. Once that is done, open up the Leopard mounted image
13. Use finder's Go to Folder option and navigate to /Volumes/Leopard/System
14. Go to Installation -> Packages
15. Rename the old OSInstall.mpkg, I usually do OSInstall.mpkg.old, Finder will ask if you want to append the new extension, say yes.
16. Now, drop in the NewOSInstall.mpkg rename it to OSInstall.mpkg.
17. You now have a disc image ready. Burning Leopard sparseimage
